Shari Pettit
APRN, PMHNP-BC
Shari Pettit is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly 16 years of experience across diverse areas of healthcare. Her diverse and extensive nursing background includes roles in medical-surgical, emergency medicine, oncology radiation, hospice, correctional care, substance abuse treatment, geriatric psychiatry, mental health crisis services and mental health outpatient psychiatry. Before becoming a nurse, Shari spent 7 years working with individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities, many of whom had co-occurring mental health conditions. This early experience shaped the empathetic, patient-centered lens she carries into her practice today with 23 years of combined health care experience, with a majority of that time in mental health settings.
The last few years she has worked in outpatient psychiatry serving the entire life span of children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Clinical experience includes extensive experience in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric medication management, supportive therapy, and collaborative care with primary providers, therapists, and community resources.
Shari comes from what some may consider a less privileged area of her community, and those formative experiences cultivated her deeply non-judgmental, compassionate, and understanding approach to psychiatric care. Her dedication to mental health advocacy is also personal- she has witnessed the profound impact of mental health conditions within her own family and close circle of friends.
She strongly believes in the power of collaborative, individualized care, working in partnership with each patient to develop treatment plans that honor their goals, strengths, and lived experiences. She is truly dedicated to delivering individualized treatment that meets them where they are at in life to ensure their emotional well-being, functioning, and long-term recovery.
